Bernard Larso , a Musicians Institute (Hollywood, USA) graduate, a fusion guitarist and well known educator in Indonesia, is deeply rooted in music education since the beginning of his career.
In 1995, he studied guitar formally at GIT (Guitar Institute of Technology), one of the major studies at MI (Musicians Institute) Hollywood, USA. Many styles and great musicians began to influence his playing during GIT era, such as Frank Gambale, Brett Garsed, Tony Mac Alpine, etc, so his style were widen after that. Bernard always encourages people around him to go deeper in the area of music education.
Graduated from GIT,USA, he started playing again with some local bands, and then in 2001, with the support from a friend, bassist named Adi Dharmawan, he released his 1st solo album entitled “Searchin’ for The Dream”, a combination of fusion and rock style. After solo album, he began to play as a clinician for several products, such as Crate Amps, Ibanez guitar, Vox Fx, Cort Guitar, etc. His root and attention to music education finally drew him to form a music institute (IMI) in Jakarta, Indonesia where he held the position as the Director of Education.
In 2005 he released his technique book “Electric Guitar Improvisation Technique” which quite successful in the market. In 2006 again he released his 2nd instrumental guitar album “Helping Hands”.This album is different from the 1st one, since he’s been influenced by many jazz and fusion players. In 2007, he released his 2nd book “Advance Technique for Guitar”.Finishing the year 2008, again he released his 3rd book “Fusion Guitar”. Entering the year 2009, together with his friend guitarist Dewa Budjana, he formed a music school for guitar and bass “GSI Guitar School of Indonesia”“ which located in Major elite area in the city Jakarta. Now the school named “MSI Music School of Indonesia”. At the same year, he got his CD released, this time he joined a band named Heaven n Friends. In 2011 again he released his 3rd solo instrumental album “Receive”. In 2012, again he released an e-book “Back to Fusion”, along with the video version (downloadable from youtube).At the moment he’s busy with guitar lesson projects, writing some more books, and also busy as clinician.
